60-Year-Old Stage 4 Cancer Survivor Just Became a College Football Freshman and His Story Will Hit You

Tom Green is 60 years old. He beat Stage 4 kidney cancer. And now he is a freshman on the McDaniel College football team. If that sentence doesn't stop you, his reason for doing it will.

Green is chasing a dream he has carried his entire life. He is doing it after surviving one of the toughest battles anyone faces in the medical arena. He made the decision to join McDaniel's roster as a true freshman, stepping onto the field alongside players young enough to be his grandkids.

The Fight That Led Him Here

Cancer treatment is brutal. Football workouts are brutal. Green is doing both at the same time. He lived through Stage 4 kidney cancer, the kind of diagnosis that stops your world cold. Most people who survive that fight never think about strapping on a helmet and running routes.

But Green is not most people. His deep faith carried him through the cancer battle and continues to fuel him on the practice field. He talks about the rigorous grind of football workouts and what it takes to endure them, especially after enduring the physical and mental toll of aggressive cancer treatment.

A Message for Anyone Facing Their Own Wall

Green is not shy about why he is doing this. He encourages others to pursue their dreams no matter what obstacles stand in the way. His resilience speaks louder than any motivational poster.

He showed up to McDaniel College and proved something simple but profound: your age, your medical history, your past does not have to define your future. You can chase what you have always wanted to chase.
