Amen Thompson Won't Go Quietly: Rockets Torch Lakers 115-96, Force Game 5

The Houston Rockets were staring elimination in the face on Sunday night, and they responded by dropping 115 points on the Los Angeles Lakers while holding them to just 96. Amen Thompson led the way with a game-high 23 points, refusing to let his team's season end without a fight. This wasn't a close one either. The Rockets came out firing and never eased up, staying alive in the series with a dominant road victory.

Thompson and Eason Set the Tone Early

Thompson's 23-point performance was the knockout punch the Rockets needed. But he wasn't doing it alone. Tari Eason chipped in 20 points, giving Houston two reliable weapons when the pressure was maximum. When you're one loss away from going home, you need your guys to show up with ice in their veins. Both Thompson and Eason did exactly that, combining for 43 points to power the comeback bid.

No Mercy on the Road

What made this win even more impressive is that the Rockets did it in Los Angeles, where the Lakers should theoretically have every advantage. The Rockets came out strong and maintained that edge throughout, proving this wasn't some desperate game that came down to the final possession. They controlled the tempo, controlled the glass, and controlled the scoreboard. A 19-point victory in an elimination game? That's the kind of statement performance that can change the entire complexion of a series.

Houston averted disaster and forced another game. The Lakers will need to regroup fast if they want to end this one before heading back home.
