Arizona's Odds Say What Nobody Wants to Admit: The Cardinals Are Built to Tank in 2026

Vegas doesn't lie. And right now, the sportsbooks are screaming that Arizona has the longest shot of any NFL team to make the playoffs in 2026. The Cardinals are sitting at +2000 odds to miss the postseason, per Pro Football Talk, which is the worst mark in the entire league. That's not a warning sign. That's a flashing red alarm.

The Draft Class Didn't Save Them

Look, the Cardinals tried. They grabbed running back Jeremiyah Love with the No. 3 pick in the draft. They brought in Carson Beck to add another quarterback to the room. On paper, those moves sound like you're building something. But Vegas isn't buying it. The betting market is essentially saying that Arizona is going to spend the 2026 season preparing to hunt for their franchise quarterback in the 2027 draft instead of actually competing this year.

That's not a team positioned to make noise in the playoffs. That's a team in full reset mode, whether the front office admits it or not.

Everything Else Is Set, So Here We Are

Free agency and the draft are done. The offseason moves are locked in. Some franchises got better, some added intriguing pieces to build on, and then there's Arizona. The Cardinals had their shot to put together something competitive heading into 2026, and the oddsmakers have a pretty clear verdict: it didn't happen.

The preseason is coming, and for most NFL teams, that means preparing for a real run. For the Cardinals, it apparently means accepting that 2026 is about laying groundwork for tomorrow.
