Awa Fam Brings Championship Fire To Seattle, But The Storm's Early Season Fight Is Already REAL

Emerald City, are you feeling this energy?! Our Seattle Storm just welcomed a bona fide champion, Awa Fam, to the squad, fresh off a title run in the Spanish league! This is HUGE, folks. Fam literally walked through the door last week, bringing that undeniable winning swagger straight from a championship season. But hold up, because even with that kind of winning fire, the Storm are already facing a tough early season reality check. While Fam is getting settled and ready to light up the court, the Washington Mystics rolled into Climate Pledge Arena and handed our Storm a 78-64 defeat. Talk about a gut punch! It’s early, but this fight is REAL. And speaking of champions, our Seahawks star Uchenna Nwosu dropped by "Inside the Arena" to talk about our Super Bowl victory in February and what's next for him and that incredible defense.

Fam's Fire vs. The Early Season Chill

Awa Fam isn't wasting any time getting to know the Emerald City. She sat down with Niko on "Inside the Arena" for her first deep dive, talking all about her journey to the US and finally joining our Storm. You gotta love it! Our front office clearly sees her, and fellow draftee Flau'jae Johnson, as absolute cornerstones for what's coming next, building for a future that has us buzzing. Fam literally arrived in Seattle last week, still riding high from winning a championship in the Spanish league! That's the kind of winning pedigree that we desperately need. Especially after watching our Storm fall 78-64 to the Washington Mystics. That score stings. It's a stark reminder that even with all the excitement of new talent, this early season is already a gritty grind, and every game matters for setting the tone.

Super Bowl Champ Nwosu Keeps The Vibe Alive

While the Storm navigates their early season, it's always good to hear from a Super Bowl champ, right? Uchenna Nwosu, our absolute beast on the "Dark Side" defensive unit, made an in-person appearance on "Inside the Arena" with Niko. And man, did he bring that championship energy! Nwosu, who's been a force since joining the Seahawks in 2022, was a massive part of that defense that absolutely shredded opponents on the way to our February Super Bowl victory. He was there to talk about the offseason, how he stays sharp, and even gave us a peek into an upcoming charity event. That's the kind of leadership, the kind of commitment to both community and winning, that you love to see from our guys. It keeps that Super Bowl glow going strong across the Emerald City, no matter what else is happening! Oh, and if you watched "Inside the Arena," you know there was also a segment where Chris broke down some potential sports and political news with Washington Senator Maria Cantwell. But for us, the talk is squarely on the court and the field. With Awa Fam's championship experience now in the building for the Storm, and our squad looking to bounce back hard from that Mystics loss, you know the intensity is only going to ramp up. The future is here, Seattle, and it's time to see how our new blood battles through this early season! Let’s go, Storm! Let’s go, 12s!
