College Basketball Transfer Portal Opens Today: Here's What You Need to Know About the 15-Day Window
The 2025-26 college basketball season is officially in the books, and that means one thing: transfer portal season is here. Starting at midnight after the national championship, players have exactly 15 days to enter their names into the portal, with the deadline hitting April 21. ESPN's college basketball crew is tracking every move, every commitment, and every bit of chaos that comes with it.
How the Portal Window Actually Works
Here's the deal: players get a 15-day window to enter the portal, and they can move in and out during that time if they want to. The key thing? They don't have to commit to a new school or officially withdraw before that window closes. They just have to be in the portal within those 15 days if they're serious about transferring. Some guys will hedge their bets too, testing the NBA draft waters while keeping their college options open. It's a chess match.

What to Watch This Week
ESPN's team is tracking transfers, commitments, and all the movement as it happens. Whether it's big-name guards heading to blue bloods or role players finding new homes, this is where the offseason actually gets built. Some of these transfers will reshape rosters for next season, while others are just players testing the market before making their final decision.
The portal tracker, transfer rankings, and coaching changes are all live, so if you want to stay locked in on who's going where, that's your resource.
Keep your eyes on ESPN's coverage over the next 15 days. This is when next season really starts to take shape.
