Cooper Flagg Just Dropped 45 on the Lakers and the NBA Has Never Seen a Teen Do This Before

The Mavericks walked into this one and left with a 134-128 win over the Lakers, and the story is all about Cooper Flagg. The kid absolutely went off for 45 points, and here's the part that should blow your mind: he became the NBA's first teen ever to score 50 or more in a game. Yeah, you read that right. A teenager just did something no one in professional basketball has done before.

Flagg Takes Over in Dallas

This wasn't some garbage time padding either. Flagg was the Player of the Night on April 5, and the Mavericks needed every bucket he could get in a tight battle with the Lakers. The kid came out and put the team on his back, dropping 45 points in a game that came down to the wire. For context, the Mavericks pulled out a six-point win, and Flagg's scoring was the main reason they stayed ahead.

What makes this even wilder is that Flagg is doing this as a teenager. This isn't a veteran scorer who's been in the league for a decade. This is a young player proving right now that he belongs at the absolute highest level.

The Teen Record Stands Alone

The fact that he became the NBA's first teen to score 50 in a single game tells you everything you need to know about where Flagg's game is right now. The kid is playing with a swagger and a skill set that most NBA players don't develop for years. He's doing it as a teenager in a regular season game against a Lakers team that's fighting for their playoff position.

If you've been sleeping on Flagg, this is your sign to wake up. Dallas has something special in this kid, and nights like this are only going to keep coming.
