Corbin Carroll's Opposite-Field Slam Stretches D-Backs' Hot Streak While Blue Jays Keep Sinking

The Arizona Diamondbacks are rolling right now, and Corbin Carroll just made sure everyone knows it. Carroll stepped up in the eighth inning on Saturday night in Phoenix and ripped an opposite-field grand slam to break a tie, pushing the D-Backs past the Toronto Blue Jays 6-2 and extending their winning streak to four straight games.

Carroll Takes Over Late

This is the kind of moment that defines early season momentum. The game was knotted up heading into the eighth when Carroll came through with the big fly, going opposite field to clear the bases and put the game out of reach. That's the kind of clutch hit that gets replayed all week and shifts the energy of a series in a hurry. The D-Backs are feeling it right now, and they're showing no signs of slowing down.

Toronto's Struggles Continue

For the Blue Jays, it's been the opposite story. They're sliding hard right now, and a loss like this one, where you get down by that much late in the game, stings. You want to be able to pitch your way through the middle innings and keep things close, but instead Toronto's watching Corbin Carroll hit a dagger opposite field in the eighth. That's not the recipe for stopping a skid.

Arizona's got the momentum, Toronto's fighting to find it again, and after Saturday night's result, the D-Backs are the ones heading into the next stretch of games feeling dangerous.
