Dave Henderson Is Going Into the A's Hall of Fame and He's Coming to Seattle to Celebrate It

Four legendary Oakland Athletics are getting their moment in the Hall of Fame, and one of them is making the trip to T-Mobile Park to do it. Center fielder Dave Henderson, second baseman Mark Ellis, pitcher John "Blue Moon" Odom, and executive Sandy Alderson will all be inducted into the Athletics' Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 12, before Oakland takes on the Mariners.

Henderson spent six of his 14 major league seasons with the A's, including their dominant 1988 to 1990 run. That's some serious pedigree. The guy was there during Oakland's best stretch, and now the franchise is getting around to honoring him the right way. It took a while, but when you've got that kind of track record, the induction becomes inevitable.

A Loaded Class for the Green and Gold

This isn't just a one-name induction. The Athletics are bringing in four all-time contributors at once. Ellis was a cornerstone at second base. Odom was a workhorse on the mound with the nickname "Blue Moon" already telling you everything you need to know about his mystique. And Alderson built rosters as an executive that defined an era in Oakland baseball.

The timing puts all eyes on Seattle and the Mariners when this happens. The Hall of Fame ceremony happens right before first pitch, so Mariners fans will get to witness some serious baseball history being made at home.

Mark Your Calendar

Saturday, September 12 is the date. The Mariners will host Oakland, and before the game starts, these four get their due. If you're a baseball purist or just someone who respects the history of the game, this is worth showing up early for.
