Dosunmu Out for Game 6 and the Wolves' Injury Crisis Just Got Worse

The Minnesota Timberwolves are one win away from advancing, but their roster is falling apart at the absolute worst time. Guard Ayo Dosunmu has been ruled out for Thursday night's Game 6 against the Denver Nuggets due to a right calf injury, dealing another blow to a team already decimated by injuries.

The Timberwolves lead the series 3-2, but they're hanging on by a thread. In Game 4, they lost both Anthony Edwards (hyperextended knee) and Donte DiVincenzo (torn Achilles) from their starting backcourt. That left the team scrambling, and Dosunmu stepped up massive. The guy went off for 25, 43, and 18 points over the last three games. He was carrying the offensive load while everyone else was hurt.

The Calf Won't Quit

Here's the problem: Dosunmu's been dealing with a recurring right calf issue for the last several weeks. It's haunted him, and now it's come back at the worst possible moment. The Timberwolves had their shot to close this out at home with Game 6, and instead they're losing one of their only healthy offensive weapons.

Reserve forward Kyle Anderson is also ruled out with an illness, adding to Minnesota's depth problems.

Denver's Got Its Own Problems

The Nuggets aren't without their own headaches. Starting wing Aaron Gordon is listed as questionable for Game 6 because of a left calf issue. He missed both Games 3 and 5 with the same problem. Nuggets coach David Adelman said Gordon would test the calf before the team decides his status, so there's still uncertainty heading into Thursday night.

The Timberwolves have the series in their hands, but injuries keep threatening to slip it away. Game 6 is the closeout opportunity they need to capitalize on right now.
