Ducks Unload 4 Goals in the Third and Leave Edmonton in the Dust

Game 3 in Anaheim turned into a track meet, and the Ducks came out firing. Anaheim scored four times in the third period to pull away from the Oilers in the Western Conference First Round matchup on April 25, the kind of offensive explosion that can swing momentum hard in a playoff series.

Edmonton Fought Back But Couldn't Keep Pace

This wasn't some defensive slugfest. The Oilers kept trading chances with the Ducks all night in what became a run-and-gun affair. McDavid got one back on the power play to pull Edmonton within one, which meant the game was still there for the taking going into the final frame. But once the third period started, Anaheim just had another gear.

Podkolzin got things rolling with a rebound goal in the first period to break the ice. Then Sennecke snapped it home to give the Ducks the lead in the third, and Carlsson tucked in a backhand to stretch it even further. The Oilers had their moments, sure, but they couldn't match the firepower coming their way.

The Ducks' Offense Took Over

When you score four goals in one period in the playoffs, you're doing something right. Anaheim's depth scoring showed up when it counted most, and that's the kind of performance that can put real pressure on an opponent heading into the next game. This wasn't a one-line show either, these were contributions up and down the lineup.

The Oilers needed to find an answer to that third period onslaught. McDavid's power play goal kept Edmonton breathing, but in playoff hockey, you can't spot a team a four goal period and expect to stick around in the series.

Game 4 is coming, and Edmonton's back is against the wall now. They've got to figure out how to slow down Anaheim's attack and keep the series alive.
