Dustin Wolf and the Flames Just Ended the Mammoth's Playoff Dreams, and the West Is Getting Weird

The Calgary Flames came into Sunday night as spoilers, and that's exactly what they delivered. Dustin Wolf and company handed the playoff-bound Mammoth a defeat in a game that mattered way more than the standings might suggest. In April, when every team is fighting for positioning and survival, losses like this one sting.

Wolf Was Locked In When It Counted

Dustin Wolf didn't let the moment get too big. The Flames goalie came to play on what could have been a swing game for both teams. When you're facing a team already locked into playoff contention, you need someone between the pipes who doesn't flinch, and that's what Calgary got. Wolf stood tall when the Mammoth pressed hardest.

Calgary Finds a Way to Win the Game That Matters

The Flames didn't need to be pretty. They just needed to be better, and they were. This wasn't some random April afternoon either. With playoff positioning still being settled around the league, Calgary proved they could show up and execute against teams with something on the line. The Mammoth came in expecting to handle business. Instead, they left empty-handed.

What Comes Next

The Mammoth will get another shot to lock down their playoff positioning, but this loss is a reminder that nothing is guaranteed down the stretch. Calgary just proved they're not a team you can overlook, no matter what the playoff picture looks like heading into the final stretch of the season.
