Edoardo Molinari Is Coming Back for a Third Straight Ryder Cup and Luke Donald Just Made It Official

Italy's Edoardo Molinari is staying put as European Ryder Cup vice-captain. Again. For the third straight time, he'll be running things alongside captain Luke Donald when the 2027 Ryder Cup rolls around, and honestly, when Donald came calling, there was no hesitation.

"It was a very easy decision when Luke called me and asked me if I was willing to help him again," Molinari said.

This is the kind of continuity you want in a major competition. Molinari has already proven he knows how to do the job, and Donald clearly trusts him completely. The fact that he jumped at the chance to do it a third time tells you everything about how solid this partnership is.

Why This Matters for Europe's Ryder Cup Plans

Having your vice-captain locked in this early is huge for team preparation. Molinari brings institutional knowledge from the last two competitions, knows what works and what doesn't, and has Donald's full confidence. That consistency matters when you're trying to build a winning team.

The 2027 Ryder Cup is still more than a year away, but Europe is already thinking ahead. With Molinari back in the fold, the team can focus on bigger-picture strategy instead of worrying about filling key leadership roles.

What's Next

Now the real work begins. Europe will need to identify its roster and build around this leadership team. Molinari and Donald have a track record together, and that's something the rest of the golf world will be watching closely as 2027 approaches.
