This is the kind of moment where one win changes everything for a franchise's season trajectory.
The Clinch Games
The Flyers, Kings, and Ducks are all one victory away from officially punching their tickets to the postseason. It wasn't all clinching news around the league. The Islanders have now missed the playoffs for the second straight season, and the Red Wings are staring down a 10-year playoff drought after missing the postseason once again. Over in Seattle, the Kraken missed the playoffs for the third consecutive season. Meanwhile, the Penguins are still in the hunt, having just taken a win over Washington with Ovechkin and Crosby squaring off in a battle between two legendary skaters.
What's at Stake
For the Flyers, Kings, and Ducks, tonight is about sealing their fate and moving into the playoffs with their heads held high. Missing the postseason is never an option for franchises with championship aspirations, and these three teams are making sure they don't let this opportunity slip away. One win. That's all it takes to move from uncertainty into the playoff picture and beyond.
