Kankakee's Own Lincoln Williams Is Putting Up 26 PPG and Nobody Is Ready For What's Coming
Alright, you guys, gather 'round because you are NOT gonna believe what just landed in Urbana-Champaign! We're talking big-time, game-changing news for the Illinois Fighting Illini, and it dropped right in the middle of June. Seriously, the Illini snagged one of the most exciting in-state talents for their 2026 class, locking down Lincoln Williams, a Kankakee native. This isn't some quiet signing, this kid is a bona fide star, and he's staying home!
This Kid's Numbers Are Absolutely Bonkers
Look, when you hear about a high school player, you usually get some good stats, right? But Williams? His senior campaign at Kankakee High was on another level. We're talking over 26 points per game, six rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks. Two BLOCKS! As a guard! That kind of all-around production, especially on the defensive end, is just insane. He wasn't just scoring either, he was doing everything on the court. And get this, the 6-foot-5 guard owns his high school's single-game, single-season, AND career scoring records. That's not just a scorer, that's a program changer. You don't put up those kinds of numbers without being a force every single time he steps on the court.

You know when a coach is genuinely hyped about a recruit, and Illinois Head Coach Brad Underwood is absolutely buzzing about Williams. He said it himself: "Lincoln is an outstanding in-state player who we have recruited for many years." Think about that, years of recruitment for a 2026 kid. That shows serious commitment and a belief in what this player can become. Underwood isn't shy about his talent, either, calling him "a tremendous scorer" and "a special athlete with the ability to play and guard all the perimeter positions." But here's the kicker, the part that really gets you thinking about his potential: Underwood expects him to be "an elite defender at the collegiate level." Elite defense from a guy who also puts up 26 points a night? Sign me up! It's clear Williams is pumped to wear the Orange and Blue, representing his state, and the Illini staff are absolutely thrilled to have him join the roster.
So, what does this mean for Illinois? It means they're adding a dynamic, high-motor guard who can score, rebound, pass, and defend at an elite level. This isn't just a recruit, this is a statement. Keep your eyes peeled, because Lincoln Williams is coming, and he's bringing some serious talent to the Big Ten. Can't wait to see what he does!
