Isaiah Shaw's 46.4% From Deep and Nobody in College Hoops Is Ready For It

Alright, listen up! Even though we're usually all about our Emerald City teams, big news just dropped in college basketball today, Thursday, courtesy of ESPN. UConn just locked down Northern Arizona transfer Isaiah Shaw! This isn't a small blip on the radar. This kid brings serious talent and a killer stat line. If you’re a high-level hoops fan, you'll want to pay close attention to what this move means for the Huskies.

The Numbers Tell a Story of Seriously Efficient Scoring

Let’s get right into why this pickup is a big deal. Shaw isn't just another name in the transfer portal, he's a certified bucket-getter. Standing 6-foot-8, he’s got the length to dominate as a forward, but also the skills to run the show as a guard. That dual-position versatility is like finding a hidden gem. Last season, 2025-26, he really turned heads, averaging 8.1 points and grabbing 2.1 rebounds. He played 29 contests, earning 22 starts, showing he was crucial for Northern Arizona. But here’s the stat that should make every opposing scout scribble notes furiously: he shot a mind-blowing 46.4% from the field AND, get this, 46.4% from beyond the arc! Almost half his total shots, whether driving or launching, found the net. That's elite-level efficiency, a true difference-maker.

From Role Player to Rising Star, The Journey Pays Off

Shaw's journey through college hoops makes this story even better. It wasn't a one-and-done path, but a grind that built him into the player he is today. He kicked off his career as a bench player during two seasons at Grand Canyon, 2022-2024. Then, in 2024-25, he stopped at Valparaiso, averaging 4.8 points over 33 games, with three starts. You see the progression, right? Each move, he carved out more playing time, took on more responsibility, and sharpened his game. To go from a reserve to a high-efficiency starter knocking down shots at nearly 50% from anywhere? That’s the development championship teams crave. UConn landed a player who's clearly put in the time, ready to make a serious splash for his new squad. So, yeah, our hearts are usually with our Seattle squads. But sometimes, a player makes a move so impactful, it transcends local loyalties and screams "must-watch." Isaiah Shaw heading to UConn is one of those moments. The Huskies dramatically boosted their roster with this commitment. With Shaw's proven shooting prowess and size, you know they're not just aiming to compete, they're looking to make serious noise and chase hardware next season. Mark it down, keep an eye on this kid. If he keeps delivering that kind of shooting, the rest of college basketball is gonna have a massive problem trying to guard him.
