Alright, college hoops fans, buckle up because the recruiting world just got a jolt! We're talking about Jaxson Davis, a four-star point guard from the 2027 class, who just dropped a bombshell: he's locked in his first official visit, and it's with Iowa basketball. This isn't just any visit, folks, this is the opening shot in what's going to be a wild recruitment journey for one of the nation's most coveted young talents. When a player this good starts his official tours, you know things are about to get real.

Who Is This Kid, Jaxson Davis, Anyway?!

If you haven't heard the name Jaxson Davis yet, you need to get with it. This 6-foot-1, 165-pound wizard out of Gurnee, Ill., isn't just a highly-rated prospect; he's a certified playmaker. He was balling out at Warren Township High School, absolutely tearing it up before making a move to Monarch Academy in Kansas City, Kan., to play in Nike’s EYBL Scholastic League. And the rankings? Dude is already No. 42 nationally in the 2027 class, and 247Sports has him tabbed as the nation's No. 16 point guard. That's elite company, plain and simple. But let's talk about his game, because that's where the real magic happens. This past season, Davis was putting up ridiculous numbers for the Blue Devils, who finished with a stellar 30-4 record. We're talking 23.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and a staggering 3.5 steals per game! Are you kidding me? He's stuffing the stat sheet like it's a grocery cart, impacting every single facet of the game. His squad made it to the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 4A sectional semifinals this year, after making a deep run to the state championship game just last year in 2025. This kid is a winner, period.

The Awards Pile Up, And So Do The Offers

Now, if those stats and rankings didn't convince you, maybe a look at his trophy case will. Jaxson Davis isn't just good, he's historically good. The dude snagged the 2026 Chicago Sun-Times Player of the Year. He was named Illinois Media Class 4A Player of the Year. He earned unanimous first-team All-State honors. And get this: he's pulled off back-to-back Illinois Mr. Basketball awards AND back-to-back Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year awards. That's not just talent, that's dominance on a level few high school players ever reach. We're talking about a kid who's already leaving an undeniable legacy in his home state. And of course, when you're racking up accolades like that, the offers come pouring in. Beyond Iowa, Davis holds bids from Big Ten heavyweights like Michigan, Ohio State, Indiana, Illinois, Northwestern, and Purdue. Plus, powerhouse programs like Arizona State, Kentucky, and Missouri are all in the mix. This isn't some small-time recruit; this is a national battle for a future star. The Hawkeyes have landed a prime first official visit on Sept. 19. For a player who's already achieved so much and has so many top-tier schools knocking, that first visit is huge. Every other school is watching, folks. What's next for Jaxson Davis? You better believe the entire college basketball world is eager to see where this journey takes him.
