JJ Redick Just Said the NBA Is Microchipping Basketballs and Lakers Fans Might Actually Believe Him

Look, JJ Redick was being sarcastic when he went on his conspiracy theory rant about rigged balls, but honestly? After watching the Lakers battle it out against the Wizards, you might find yourself nodding along to the microchip theory too.

Here's the thing: the Lakers are sitting in the 3 seed right now, and Redick has done an absolute masterclass transitioning from player to head coach, much like Steve Kerr did back in the day. The man knows how to handle a squad. Meanwhile, Luka has looked like a completely different player over the last month, which has been wild to watch. And when you see LeBron and Bronny doing what they're doing on the court together, you start to understand why Redick might be having a bit of fun with the media.

The Wizards Are Still a Problem

The Washington Wizards are an absolute mess right now. Like, legitimately embarrassing basketball. That said, there's some hope down the line with Trae Young and Anthony Davis in the fold, but right now the product on the floor is rough. Even Bub Carrington looks like he wandered in from a streetball court and is just out there having fun. It's that kind of vibe.

When Your Team Is Rolling, You Can Joke Around

Redick was clearly pulling pages from the Joe Mazzulla playbook here, you know, the one where you sprinkle random movie quotes and philosophy into your postgame interviews just because you can. When you're facing a team as chaotic as the Wizards, that's exactly what you do. You go out there, have some fun with the moment, and crack jokes about microchips in basketballs.

The Lakers are clicking, and Redick's proving he's got the chops to lead this thing. Enjoy these moments while LeBron is still out there doing LeBron things.
