The Seattle Mariners have continually showed us that they simply can't figure out how to hit. After an embarrassing week losing FIVE out of SIX to the Detroit Tigers, and Pittsburgh Pirates, the Mariners ended up with another embarrassment against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Mariners were handed a 3-0 loss, and the bats decided to vanish once again. The Dodgers starting pitcher Gavin Stone, broke his career high with EIGHT strikeouts in the 4th inning.
After an embarrassing week last week, you'd think the Mariners would come out with passion. Nope. Useless bats again. The Mariners came up with 2 hits on the night, one by Julio Rodriguez, and one by Justin Turner. Rodriguez and Randy Arozarena also walked. TWO HITS. TWO WALKS. That's it.
The Seattle Mariners are now batting .215 on the season, yes, the actual Mendoza line. On top of being the league leaders in strikeouts.
The 2024 Seattle Mariners are batting .215.

Mario Mendoza was a career .215 hitter.
There is no explanation for this, this is not Major League level baseball. There is no fight in this offense, no one is showing up, and clearly the coaching is not landing with the players anymore. Nothing is working.
Currently, the Mariners are 5 games out of the AL West lead, and 6.5 games out of the last Wild Card spot. Safe to say if they continue to play like this, this season will be over in a matter of just a few more games. This is getting really sad.
Of course, I must mention Bryan Woo. He did his job, I am not talking about the pitching, we all know they show up. He ended up going 6.1 innings and gave up two earned runs. Still, he was amazing today, with no run support, against one of the most lethal lineups in the MLB.
I'll say it one last time, TWO HITS, TWO WALKS. The season is on the line here, yet this team has no fire at all. No one is held accountable.
I've rarely been on the 'fire everyone' train, but now, it's hard to see how this staff could keep their jobs if this continues over the last 30-something games.

To many selfish players trying to hit dingers instead of just going for contact.
Unfortunately, the stellar pitchers are not going to want to stay with a team where they cannot generate wins on their resume for future salary negotiations. Both GM and Mgr should be let go. All offseason trades were based on dumping salary and not improving the team. Who would you rather have: Suarez or Garver? It is embarrassing to watch.
I’ve been saying the hitting coaches should have been removed last year!!
At this point it may be time for a new manager too. Although Scott is amazing with the pitching staff. Whatever is being taught in the offensive side has proven to be a failure
The Mariners claim to be major league level . They need to be sued and charged with fraud.
A new voice is needed in the dugout. The offense is just going through the motions. Bring on Mark DeRosa.
