Kirk Herbstreit Is OUT of College Football 27 and Fans Are Already Losing It

Alright, you guys, this just dropped, and I’m still picking my jaw up off the floor! Seriously, nobody saw this coming. Kirk Herbstreit, the absolute legend, the voice of college football that we all respect, the dude crushing it on College GameDay and breaking viewership records, just got some WILD news. Get this: our man Herbstreit has been completely removed from an announcing team. Can you even believe it? The news is out, and it feels like a total gut punch.

The Worldwide Leader's Star Just Got Benched, Sort Of

Herbstreit has been a cornerstone of college football media for years, right? He's a highly respected voice, even when he stirs up a little controversy, which, let's be real, is part of the fun. We just saw him crush the 2025 college football season, and he's still locked in for College GameDay, one of ESPN's biggest shows that's been setting records like crazy the past two seasons. So you’d think he’s untouchable, living the dream, right? Nope. Apparently, all that success with the worldwide leader in sports doesn't protect you from some seriously bad news, because he got axed from another gig. Crazy times in sports media, folks!

Big Game Broadcast? Not Anymore for Herbie!

So, what's the deal? The official cover for *College Football 27* just dropped on Tuesday, and get ready for this, the game is set to hit shelves mid-July. But here’s the kicker, according to On3, Kirk Herbstreit will NOT be in the 2027 edition of the video game. He'd been a fixture in the last two versions, a key part of the "Big Game" broadcast alongside Chris Fowler. Think about that, no Herbie calling the shots in our favorite virtual matchups! It's going to be a totally different vibe for fans booting up the game this summer. What's next for *College Football 27* without him? USC quarterback Jayden Maiava, Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore, and Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti are all set to grace the deluxe edition cover. It's a whole new era for the game, for sure. So fire up your consoles and get ready for a different sound come July, because one of the most familiar voices will be noticeably absent.
