Kraken's Season Ends With a Whimper: Shutout Loss to Colorado in Regular-Season Finale

Well, that's not how you want to go out. The 2025-26 Kraken season came to a merciful end Thursday night in Colorado, and it wasn't pretty. A 2-0 shutout loss to the Avalanche sent Seattle home empty-handed as the regular season wrapped up. No drama. No last-minute heroics. Just a flat performance against a team that's already locked in for the playoffs.

Colorado's Dominant Night

The Avalanche, fresh off winning the Presidents' Trophy as the league's best team, didn't need much to put this one away. Nick Blankenburg scored in the second period, and that was enough. Colorado's defense held tight the rest of the way, and the Kraken couldn't find the back of the net. When you're playing a Presidents' Trophy winner and you can't generate offense, this is what happens.

A Season That Never Got Off the Ground

This wasn't the way anyone in Seattle envisioned things wrapping up when the season started. The Kraken couldn't string together enough wins to stay in contention, and a shutout loss in the finale basically sums up how things went. No goals in the biggest game of the year? That tells you everything about where this team's season went.

Now the offseason clock starts. The organization has some soul-searching to do about what went wrong and what needs to change heading into 2026-27. For now, though, Kraken fans have to sit with this one: a whimper instead of a bang.
