If you are a Seattle Mariners fan, you know how valuable Logan Gilbert is. He is likely the most consistent and complete pitcher since the Mariners had Félix Hernández. They also have one thing really in common, the Mariners offense does not give them run support.
Logan Gilbert was only one of two Mariners All-Stars this season, and he is currently still stuck at a 7-11 record on the season (this is being written as he is pitching vs. the Yankees and the Mariners have a 3-0 lead). The casual MLB baseball fan, might see a 7-11 record and not truly understand how good Logan Gilbert is.
Today, in the 1st inning, he recorded his 200th strikeout of the season, which puts him in rare company. In the 47 years of Mariners baseball, only NINE pitchers have ever recorded 200 strikeout seasons for the franchise, Gilbert is now one of those nine.
That's 200 strikeouts this season for Logan Gilbert, who becomes just the ninth player in Mariners history to reach that benchmark. pic.twitter.com/S15ggqSXxg

As we all know, the Mariners have had some extremely impressive pitchers over the last three or four years, and THREE out of the NINE have been in the past THREE seasons:
- Logan Gilbert (2024)
- Luis Castillo (2023)
- Robbie Ray (2022)
- James Paxton (2018)
- Félix Hernández (2009-14)
- Randy Johnson (1991-95, 97-98)
- Erik Hanson (1990)
- Mark Langston (1984, 86-88)
- Floyd Bannister (1982)
As you can see from the list, only three pitchers have ever done it more than one time while wearing a Mariners uniform... Félix Hernández, Randy Johnson, and Mark Langston.
If Logan Gilbert can come back and do it again next year, he will be only one of four Mariners players to ever have 200+ strikeouts multiple times in Mariners franchise history.
Logan Gilbert is looking to also get a big win vs. the New York Yankees as the Mariners have moved within 2.5 games back of the AL Wild Card final playoff spot.

Detroit Tigers are now tied for the final Wild Card spot, and the Mariners sit 2.5 games back.
Win today would put us at 2GB.
Tigers have 3 @ Orioles next.
Mariners have 3 @ Rangers next.
Twins have 3 @ Red Sox next.
Mariners still have a small 3% chance of making the playoffs according to ESPN.
