Macklin Celebrini Just Set the Sharks Franchise Record for Points in a Season, and Joe Thornton's Gift Was Peak Legend
The San Jose Sharks' regular season wrapped on April 17, and Macklin Celebrini made sure everyone will remember it. He set a new franchise record for most points in a single season, cementing himself as one of the most electric talents in Teal history. That's the kind of milestone that defines a career trajectory, especially this early.
But here's where it gets good: Joe Thornton, the greatest Shark to ever wear the jersey, sent Celebrini a shirtless video to celebrate. Because when you're the franchise GOAT and you want to congratulate the kid who just broke your record, you go full Joe Thornton about it. That's the kind of moment that bonds a franchise, separates the legends from everyone else, and tells you everything about the culture in San Jose right now.

On the final night of the regular season, Celebrini didn't just hit the mark, he set up another assist on a Smith goal to get there. This wasn't some quiet statistical milestone buried in a blowout. This was a moment, live and on the ice, that showed why the Sharks believe they have their franchise player locked in for the next decade-plus.
The Passing of the Torch
Thornton's shirtless video is the kind of legendary move only a guy like Joe can pull off. The man played 24 seasons in San Jose, won a Hart Trophy, nearly won the Cup, and built a legacy that defines what it means to be a Shark. For him to celebrate Celebrini's record-setting season with that kind of energy and humor says everything. That's not just respect between generations of players, that's the spine of a franchise being passed down in real time.
The Sharks are officially in playoff mode now, and they'll carry this momentum into the Stanley Cup Playoffs knowing they have a generational talent leading the charge.
