The New York Yankees have been on a search to replace the legendary John Sterling, WFAN’s play-by-play broadcaster for the Yankees. It's looking like it's almost a done deal that Seattle Mariners long-time announcer, Dave Sims, is heading to New York.
Sterling, 86, retired in April this past season after 35 years on the job but returned to call the Yankees’ postseason run that lasted until the World Series.
For Dave Sims, this would be a big moment in his career, and as a Mariners fan, I would be happy for him. The 71-year-old Sims, was a midday sports talk host on WFAN with Ed Coleman from 1989-93. This would be a full circle moment.
Dave Sims truly was amazing with the Mariners. I will miss him A LOT. https://t.co/XXsB5UfCu4

To get personal, Dave Sims is my favorite Mariners voice right now, event though they have a pretty good team overall. This would be a huge promotion for Dave Sims, and I couldn't help but to be happy for him heading back East, and joining the New York Yankees, the best franchise in MLB history.
The Mariners look like they are losing Dave Sims to the Yankees 😞

My favorite Mariners voice BY FAR. Not even close for me. https://t.co/no9BZcfjJA
There is no official confirmation by WFAN, but sources say that they would be pleased with this hire if it does go through. Yet, its mostly happening based on all reports coming out, they are just finalizing the contract.
