Marvin Jones Jr. Signs With Seahawks as Undrafted Free Agent, Adds Edge to Defense

The Seattle Seahawks just added another piece to their defensive line. Marvin Jones Jr., a defensive lineman from the University of Oklahoma, has inked a deal with the team as an undrafted free agent. This move comes after the Sooners had seven players selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, but there's still plenty of talent finding NFL homes outside of draft day.

The Sooners Connection

Jones played college ball at both Georgia and Florida State before landing at Oklahoma for his final collegiate season. In 2025, he started nine games at defensive end for the Sooners, racking up 21 total tackles, five TFLs, and two sacks. That production gave Oklahoma another serious pass-rushing threat off the edge when they needed it.

The Sooners' defensive front was one of the best parts of their team last year, and Jones was right in the middle of it. His experience at SEC schools and that veteran presence up front were major reasons he made an impact during his one year in Norman. Oklahoma had one of the nation's best defensive lines, and Jones was a solid contributor to that strength.

What's Next in Seattle

Now Jones heads to the Pacific Northwest to try and make an impression with the defending champions. He'll have to prove he belongs on the roster and carve out a role in Mike Macdonald's defense. It's an opportunity to show that undrafted free agent status doesn't define your ceiling in the NFL. The Seahawks are counting on depth and competition to keep the defense sharp as the season progresses.
