Maxey and Embiid Drop 64 Combined Points to Force the 76ers Past Boston in Game 7 Thriller

The Philadelphia 76ers are moving on. Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid combined for 64 points in a Game 7 victory over the Boston Celtics on May 2, 2026, sending the 76ers to the next round of the playoffs after a series that came down to the final game.

This wasn't just any playoff elimination game. The 76ers had to claw their way back from a 3-1 deficit to even get here, and Maxey and Embiid answered the bell when it mattered most. Embiid also delivered a highlight-reel block during the game as the two stars put the Celtics away when Boston's season hung in the balance.

A Comeback for the Ages

The 76ers' journey to Game 7 was remarkable in its own right. After falling behind 3-1 in the series, Philadelphia refused to fold. They clawed back into contention and forced a decisive seventh game against a Celtics team that had controlled most of the matchup. That's where Maxey and Embiid took over, their 64-point outburst proving too much for Boston to handle.

The East Keeps Delivering Drama

The 76ers weren't alone in pushing their first-round series to the limit. Three first-round matchups in the Eastern Conference all went to Game 7, with the NBA world watching to see who would advance. The Celtics and 76ers had history in these decisive games, but this time the 76ers' firepower prevailed.

With Maxey and Embiid delivering in the biggest moment, Philadelphia punched their ticket to the semifinals and set their sights on the next challenge. The Celtics' season came to an end, and the 76ers proved that comebacks are still possible when you have two stars willing to carry the load.
