Miami Just Tied a Franchise Record and the Rest of the AFC Is Paying Attention

The Miami Dolphins came out of the 2026 NFL Draft swinging hard. By the time Day 2 wrapped up, they had selected six players in the top 100 picks, tying a franchise record. That's not a coincidence. That's a statement.

Day 1: Two Hits Right Out of the Gate

Miami started with Alabama tackle Kadyn Proctor at 12th overall, addressing the trenches immediately. Then they pivoted and grabbed San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson at 27th overall. One offensive line anchor, one defensive back to lock down the secondary. The Dolphins weren't messing around in the first round.

Day 2: Four More Bodies to Build With

Friday brought four more selections for Miami: LB Jacob Rodriguez, WR Caleb Douglas, TE Will Kacmarek, and WR Chris Bell. GM Jon-Eric Sullivan and Assistant GM Kyle Smith are clearly building depth across multiple positions. The strategy here is clear: they want young talent competing at every level.

Six players in the top 100. That's the kind of haul that changes a roster composition fast. The Dolphins are betting on their evaluation, their coaching staff to develop these guys, and the depth that comes with this many early selections.

What This Means Moving Forward

When a team commits this many premium picks to young talent, they're signaling confidence in their system. Sullivan and Smith are building something, and they're doing it aggressively. Whether this becomes a home run haul or a mixed bag will come down to film study, coaching, and development.

The tape is what matters now. These guys have to hit on the field.
