Miami Just Tied a Franchise Record and the Rest of the League Should Be Watching

The Miami Dolphins came out of the 2026 NFL Draft swinging. In what turned into a historically productive three days of selections, Miami grabbed six players in the top 100 picks, tying a franchise record that tells you everything about how aggressive GM Jon-Eric Sullivan and Assistant GM Kyle Smith were willing to go.

Day 1: Two Big Moves Right Out of the Gate

Thursday night, the Dolphins didn't mess around. They selected Alabama tackle Kadyn Proctor with the 12th overall pick and San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson at 27th overall. Two moves, two premium positions filled. That's not just adding depth. That's building a foundation on both sides of the ball.

Day 2: Four More Names Added to the Mix

Friday brought even more action. Miami added LB Jacob Rodriguez, WR Caleb Douglas, TE Will Kacmarek, and WR Chris Bell to the haul. Kacmarek went at 87th overall, Caleb Douglas at 75th overall, and Chris Bell at 94th overall. That's a complete offensive rebuild happening in real time, with Rodriguez giving them options on the defense side.

GM Jon-Eric Sullivan and Kyle Smith were breaking down the tape, the metrics, and the fit for each pick. This wasn't a scatter approach. This was methodical. This was about building something.

Six in the Top 100: What It Means

When you tie a franchise record for selections in the top 100, you're either loading up after a disaster or you've identified massive holes and you're filling them all at once. Miami clearly made a statement that 2026 is about transformation. They're not waiting around on these positions. They're addressing them now.

The Dolphins are swinging hard early in this draft class, and if these picks pan out, they've just set themselves up for a significant next chapter.
