Mount Si's Lattimore Ford Is Headed to UW, and the Huskies Just Found Their First High School Diamond

The Washington Huskies men's basketball team is taking a different path than most of its peers right now. While Division I programs across the major conferences are raiding the transfer portal to patch holes in their rosters, UW finally landed a high school recruit to build around for the long haul. On Friday, Mount Si forward Lattimore Ford announced his commitment to the Huskies, posting on Instagram: "Blessed for the opportunity to be a part of the Husky family. I'm all in and ready to give everything I've got. Let's work." Ford is Washington's first commitment from a high school prospect this offseason, coming after the program signed four transfers.

The Local Kid With Star Power

Ford was the top in-state target for coach Danny Sprinkle two years ago when he was a sophomore who led Mount Si to a Class 4A state championship in 2024. The 6-foot-6 Snoqualmie product had options too. Oklahoma, Stanford, Utah, Seattle U, Washington State, Utah State, Montana State, San Diego State, and Idaho all extended offers before he chose the purple and gold.

But the path to wearing a Husky uniform wasn't clean. In February 2025, Ford suffered a torn left ACL that wiped out his junior season and derailed Mount Si's bid for back-to-back state titles. He started his senior year at Combine Academy in Charlotte, North Carolina, before returning to Mount Si to finish out the season. After initially being denied athletic eligibility, he won a WIAA appeal in January that cleared him to play in the final 13 games.

Even after missing so much time, Ford made an impact down the stretch. He averaged 13.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.9 assists while helping Mount Si secure the No. 1 seed in the 4A state tournament. The Wildcats made it to the quarterfinals before falling to Emerald Ridge 67-62, but not before Ford dropped 23 points in that game.

On the transfer front, Washington has officially signed Ryan Beasley from San Francisco, Steele Venters from Gonzaga, and Parker Friedrichsen from Davidson. The Huskies also landed a commitment from LeJuan Watts out of Texas Tech. Lathan Sommerville announced he's returning to UW, and the program is expected to keep Wesley Yates III, Jasir Rencher, Nikola Dzepina, and Mady Traore on the roster.
