Nation's Top 5 WR Just Shut Down Three Blue-Blood Programs at Once
College football recruiting doesn't sleep, and neither do the programs hunting the nation's best talent. Every single day matters when you're chasing five-star prospects and four-star game-changers. But here's the thing: some recruits aren't waiting around for summer official visits to make their decision.
On Wednesday, four-star wide receiver Jaden Upshaw flipped the script on three major programs and committed to Texas A&M instead. And yeah, Florida, Miami, and Alabama are all feeling that one.

Upshaw is ranked the No. 42 overall prospect in the 2027 class, the No. 5 wide receiver nationally, and the No. 5 recruit out of Georgia, according to Rivals. The 6-foot-1.5, 195-pound wideout averaged 19.2 yards per reception last season. During his junior year at Lee County High School, he caught 47 passes for 902 yards and 8 touchdowns as his team made the playoffs.
With Upshaw now in the fold, he becomes the sixth top-100 recruit to commit to Texas A&M's 2027 class. The Aggies are building something real.
Bad News Hits Different Programs in Different Ways
Alabama arguably took the hardest hit here. The Crimson Tide doesn't have a single wide receiver pledged to the class yet. They're sitting on a top-50 recruiting class, but they're still hunting for receivers like five-star Monshun Sales, four-star Dakota Guerrant, four-star Quentin Burrell, and four-star Lawrence Britt.
For Miami, losing Upshaw stings less. Head coach Mario Cristobal already locked in four-star Nick Lennear and four-star Ah'Mari Stevens earlier this cycle, and he's working with a top-10 class fresh off a run to the national championship game.
Florida, under new head coach Jon Sumrall, has actually been impressive early. Sumrall brought in four-star wide receiver Tramond Collins, five-star offensive tackle Maxwell Hiller, and four-star quarterback Davin Davidson. The Gators are still hunting four-star receivers Amare Patterson and Anthony Jennings.
Upshaw had official visits lined up to all three programs, but those visits are done. He's Texas A&M bound, and that's final.
