Netflix Wants Your Seahawks: NFL Shopping Five Game Package and Seattle Could Be the Prize

Here's a wild one: the NFL is actively shopping a five-game broadcast package for 2026, and Netflix is very much in the conversation. YouTube and FOX are also bidding, but if the streaming giant gets the deal, don't be shocked when the schedule drops in May and there's a Seahawks game on your screen between binges of Stranger Things.

What Games Are Actually on the Menu?

The league isn't just offering Netflix a blank slate here. According to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, the NFL has put together a menu of more than five potential games, and the bidders get to pick the five they actually want. We're talking Week 1 in Australia, a Thanksgiving eve game that apparently everyone knows is coming even if it's not official yet, a second Black Friday matchup, and a Christmas Eve game, among others. The Australia game is locked in for the Rams and 49ers, so the Seahawks aren't touching that one, but everything else is in play.

What's the Catch?

Here's the thing about Netflix versus the other bidders: YouTube could stream those games free on their app, which is a pretty sweet deal for fans. FOX just gets more television inventory and multiple streaming options. But Netflix? You're either a subscriber or you're not. It's not like YouTube, where everyone and their grandma can click and watch. Netflix isn't exactly known as the live sports destination.

If YouTube or FOX wins, Netflix stays limited to the Christmas Day doubleheader they've already got. But if Netflix lands this five-game package, bet on seeing the Seahawks pop up when May rolls around and we find out who's playing what and when. The Emerald City has a decent shot here, and that's worth paying attention to as this thing unfolds.
