Pete Alonso's 3-Run Bomb Lifts Orioles Past Marlins, Stays Hot at the Plate

Pete Alonso went yard with the bases loaded, and the Baltimore Orioles are rolling right now. The slugger connected for a three-run homer Wednesday night as the Orioles topped the Miami Marlins 7-4, securing their second straight win in the series. Alonso has been absolutely raking early in the season with 57 extra base hits, and nights like this remind you exactly why he's one of the most feared hitters in baseball.

The Alonso Show Takes Over

When you've got a guy like Alonso in the middle of your lineup, you want the ball in his hands with runners on. That's exactly what happened Wednesday, and he didn't miss his opportunity. The three-run shot gave Baltimore some serious cushion and set the tone for the rest of the game. Alonso's power numbers early this year are impossible to ignore, and it feels like every time the Orioles need a big hit, he's the one stepping up to deliver.

Rutschman Powers the Rest of the Offense

Alonso wasn't the only one doing damage in the Baltimore lineup. Catcher Adley Rutschman had himself a night, banging out two RBI doubles to keep the offensive pressure on Miami. It's the kind of balanced attack that makes a team dangerous. When you're getting production from multiple spots in the order like this, opposing pitchers have nowhere to hide.

Back-to-Back Wins Signal Real Momentum

Getting consecutive victories over a division rival is exactly what you want to see this time of year. The Orioles showed they can put together quality at-bats and make their pitching hold up when it matters. This team is starting to click, and if Alonso keeps swinging it like this, Baltimore could be a real problem down the stretch.
