Quinn Hughes Scores Twice and the Game-Winner, Wild Advance Past Stars in First Round

The Minnesota Wild are moving on. Quinn Hughes delivered when it mattered most, lighting the lamp twice including the series-clinching goal in the third period to send Dallas packing and secure the Wild's first playoff series win since a date that matters to their franchise history.

Hughes Takes Over in Crunch Time

This is what playoff hockey looks like when you've got a guy who shows up. Hughes opened the scoring with a top-shelf rip, then reclaimed the lead with his second of the night. When the game was on the line in the third period, he buried it. That's not luck. That's a player understanding the moment and delivering exactly what your team needs to keep breathing in the postseason.

The Wild Keep Moving Forward

Minnesota is heading to the second round where they'll face the Avalanche. It's a massive accomplishment for a franchise that's been hunting for postseason success, and Hughes's performance is exactly the kind of individual excellence that carries teams through April and into May hockey.

The Stars' season is over. The Wild's just got interesting. That's the gap between advancing and going home in the playoffs, and it came down to one guy refusing to let his team lose.
