Real Salt Lake Locked in Noel Caliskan Long Term and the MLS Youth Movement Just Got Serious

Real Salt Lake just put their money where their mouth is. The club signed Noel Caliskan to a contract extension, doubling down on their youth-focused strategy heading into the heart of the season. This is the kind of move that tells you everything about where RSL is headed in 2026.

Building Around Young Talent

You don't hand out extensions to young players unless you believe in what you're building. Caliskan getting locked in long term is Real Salt Lake's statement that this isn't a flash in the pan. The club is committed to developing their youth core and keeping their guys in the fold for the long haul. It's a smart play in an MLS landscape where roster turnover happens fast.

Part of a Bigger Picture

RSL isn't the only club making moves this week. Around the league, teams are shoring up their rosters with extensions and signings. New York City FC brought in forward Arnau Farnós. Columbus Crew signed Dylan Chambost to a contract extension. Charlotte FC signed homegrown midfielder Aron John and also added forward Rodolfo Aloko. Houston Dynamo signed homegrown Mattheo Dimareli. The transfer tracker is buzzing, and every club is trying to build something sustainable.

What's Next for RSL

With Caliskan secured, Real Salt Lake can focus on what matters most: winning matches. Matchday 11 is coming up fast, and the competition is fierce. The regional rivalries are heating up across the league, with marquee matchups featuring Inter Miami vs. Orlando City in the Florida Derby, San Diego FC taking on LAFC in the Walmart Saturday Showdown, and Austin FC facing St. Louis CITY on Sunday Night Soccer. RSL has their chance to prove they belong among the best in the West.
