Royals' Late-Inning Magic Stuns Mariners in 10th, Seattle's Injury List Growing

The Mariners' road trip just got a lot tougher. After a late rally that had T-Mobile Park fans holding their breath, the Kansas City Royals walked it off in the 10th inning on Maikel Garcia's sacrifice fly to steal the series from Seattle. Just when the M's thought they had momentum, the Royals found a way to end it.

The Finish That Got Away

This is exactly the kind of game that defines a season in early May. You're there, you're fighting, you mount the comeback, and then... one swing changes everything. Garcia's sacrifice fly in extra innings was the dagger, and for a Mariners team trying to find consistency, this loss stings. The Royals managed to pull off a rare road sweep, something that doesn't happen often in baseball. Seattle had their chances, but couldn't close the door when it mattered most.

Injuries Adding Up Fast

To make matters worse, the Mariners placed infielder Will Wilson on the 10-day injured list due to a thumb injury. That's another body down on a team that can't afford to lose depth right now. Early season injuries are always frustrating, but when they start stacking up in May, you start wondering if this is just bad luck or a sign of something deeper. Either way, the Mariners are thin and need bodies back soon.

What's Next

This is the moment where the M's either bounce back and make a statement, or let a tough loss spiral. The season is still young, but losses like this one, especially on the road against a team like Kansas City, are the ones teams remember when September rolls around. Seattle needs to regroup fast and get healthy. The window is always open in May, but you can't afford to lose too many of these winnable games.
