Sam Carrick Could Be Back on the Ice Tuesday and the Sabres' Playoff Window Just Got Wider

Buffalo Sabres forward Sam Carrick is healing faster than anyone expected. The 34-year-old is ahead of schedule recovering from a left arm injury and could return to practice as soon as Tuesday, according to reports. In a playoff series where every line matters, getting a veteran forward back in the mix early is exactly what the Sabres needed right now.

The Timeline Nobody Saw Coming

Carrick was initially expected to miss games during the Eastern Conference second-round playoff series against Montreal. But his recovery from that left arm injury has been progressing quicker than the team anticipated. If he does get cleared for practice Tuesday, it means he could be in position to rejoin the lineup sooner rather than later. For a squad fighting deep into the playoffs, that's huge depth insurance.

Why This Matters for Buffalo's Push

You don't get to game seven of a playoff series without depth up front. Having Carrick potentially available changes the rotation options and gives the coaching staff flexibility they might not have had if he stayed sidelined. At 34, he's a veteran presence who knows what it takes to compete at this level. Getting him back healthy could be the difference between surviving a second-round grind or getting caught short.

The next 48 hours will tell us if Carrick can actually get back on the ice. If Tuesday practice happens, the Sabres suddenly have a weapon they thought they'd be without. That's the kind of news that shifts momentum in a playoff series.
