Seattle Mariners Make Dan Wilson FULL-TIME Manager Moving Forward…

The Seattle Mariners are moving forward in a new direction after firing manager Scott Servais. They continued later in the day to fire hitting coach Jarret DeHart. Moves are being made as the Mariners skidded to an 1-8 record on their last road trip.

Scott Servais actually heard about his firing on social media, before even meeting with Jerry Dipoto:

The Mariners decided to hire long-time Mariners legend, Dan Wilson, as the new manager of the ball club. They will also bring along Edgar Martínez to the staff. Once the full news dropped, it left a lot of fans shocked.

Dan Wilson will not be an interim coach for the Mariners, they actually decided to hire him on full-time, meaning he will also manage going into next season based on his contractual obligations.

Via Mariners.com: “Seattle Mariners President of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that Dan Wilson has been named as the team’s new field manager. Wilson will manage his first game tomorrow, August 23, when the Mariners host the San Francisco Giants at T-Mobile Park. Wilson is the 21st manager in club history (18th fulltime).

Scott Servais has been relieved of his duties, effective immediately. In addition, the Mariners have also let go hitting coach Jarret DeHart.

“We believe that we need a new voice in the clubhouse,” Dipoto said. “Dan knows our team and has been a key member of our organization working with players at every level over the past 11 years. He is well respected within and outside of our clubhouse and we are confident he will do a great job in leading our group over the final six weeks of the season and moving forward.

“I do want to thank Scott for all his efforts here in Seattle over the past nine seasons”, Dipoto said. “He has poured his passion into the team and our community and I know I speak for the entire Mariners
organization in thanking him for his hard work.’”

We all know Dan Wilson is a Mariners legend, but it seems a little premature to hire him on as a full-time manager. Only time will tell.

Listening to your team players, they are the ones who know what is going on out there. Look what Edgar, Dan Wilson and many other players brought the team to win pennants, the spirit of Seattle was unbelievable. Anywhere you went, people would say! “What about those Mariners!! Let’s be a team and gain the spirit back. Come alive again Seattle!

It’s about time. I’ve been saying that for two months. Look what France is doing since he was let go.

Does anyone ever “scope out” how the teams who win the most run their organizations?
