Seattle Seahawks Re-Sign WR Ty Scott to Practice Squad, Release LB Michael Barrett

The Seattle Seahawks are making some moves this Tuesday. They are bolstering the WR depth by adding former-UFL product, Ty Scott, to the practice squad. In a corresponding move, the Seahawks have released LB Michael Barrett.

Scott came into the league last year as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri State, signing with Kansas City Chiefs. After being waived prior to the start of the season, Scott signed with the DC Defenders of the United Football League, and went on to lead Defenders in receiving, gaining 418 yards on 25 receptions while scoring three touchdowns.

In two seasons at Missouri State, Scott caught 114 passes for 1,784 yards and 13 touchdowns, earning first-team All-MVFC honors in 2021 and honorable mention recognition in 2022.

Michael Barrett, on the other hand, is a shocking release by the Seahawks. Seattle traded for the seventh-round rookie on Aug. 22, shipping veteran cornerback Mike Jackson to the Carolina Panthers in exchange.

Barrett didn’t make the Seahawks' initial 53-man roster but was brought back on the practice squad.

In six seasons at Michigan, Barrett tallied 208 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and two interceptions in 61 games. He was selected 240th overall by the Panthers in the 2024 draft after winning a national championship with the Wolverines last season.
