The Seattle Seahawks have clearly not been satisfied with what they have at the linebacker position, so it was time for a Seahawks trade.
The Seahawks are acquiring Ernest Jones IV from the Tennessee Titans in exchange for Jerome Baker and a 2025 fourth-round pick in a swap of inside linebackers, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.
This is the second time Jones, 24, has been traded this year. The Titans acquired him from the Rams in August, sending a 2026 fifth-round pick to Los Angeles for Jones and a 2026 sixth-round selection.
This was Jerome Baker's first year with the Seahawks, and the defense has not performed up to the expectations... The Seahawks last week traded for Roy Robertson-Harris to bolster the defensive line, and now they are are making this move to improve the linebacking core.
The Seahawks have been awful in the run defense game, and Ernest Jones IV is one of the top-tier linebackers when it comes to the run, so this should help the team.
A four-year veteran, Jones has 44 tackles through six games. He is coming off a 2023 season that saw him set career highs with 145 tackles, 4.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss and six pass breakups. Jones is heading to a Seahawks team that at 4-3 is currently in first place in the NFC West division standings.
Baker, who was in the middle of his first season with Seattle, spent his first six seasons in Miami. A fellow former third-round pick, Baker is a seven-year veteran who has tallied 23.5 career sacks, 617 tackles, five interceptions and 23 pass breakups in 99 regular-season games. This season, Baker has recorded 30 tackles and one sack.
