Stop The Blame Game: The Seattle Seahawks WILL Be Just Fine...

Always remember there is a process in football, just like in life. The Seattle Seahawks sit at 4-5 with first year head coach Mike Macdonald, and now everyone is ready to start the blame game. This isn't an attack at anyone specific, because I do it myself.

Mid-game against the Rams, I tweeted that this game is 100% Geno Smith's fault if we lost, and after some thought, that was ridiculous to say.

So what do I mean by stop the blame game? Let's get into it.

After the game, it felt like everyone was ready to find blame. Geno Smith, the offensive line, Mike Macdonald, etc. While there is clear some blame that should go around, it can't be labeled on just one person.

Offensive line has been dealing with injuries all year long, and you can't fault the entire line, when you have guys like Charles Cross who is playing at an elite level for a left tackle right now. Connor Williams, despite some of the major mistakes we've seen him make, has also played well. Lastly, Laken Tomlinson is doing a fine job at left guard as well.

The entire right side of the line has been shifting people in and out due to injury, but the entire blame can't just fall on one side of the line and be our conclusion.

Geno Smith, sure, he is not a top 5 level QB right now, but he sure is playing well when he DOES get time behind the offensive line. There are not a lot of QBs in this league that can do what he is doing while have this atrocious of an offensive line.

Mike Macdonald is another one, he has gotten a lot of the shade this past week when it comes to the problems with the Seahawks. It's his first year as a head coach, the defense is getting better, and the are one game out of the top spot in the NFC West. Sure the four out of five losses recently hasn't been great, but let's not forget the 7-9 Pete Carroll years before building a mini-dynasty for two to three years.

It's clear, this team is just not complete yet, there are a lot of injuries, and the coaching staff is still working to touch up a lot of the small details. Let's not start the blame game and calling it quits just yet.

After the bye week, the Seahawks have a chance to take a lead in the NFC West if they can beat the 49ers and Cardinals, let's just keep our heads up high and hope it does happen.

It's that simple to me.
