Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby Steps Away Immediately: Gambling Addiction Gets First Priority
Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby is taking an immediate leave of absence from the program to address a gambling addiction, according to reporting from On3. The departure is indefinite, meaning the Red Raiders will be without their starting signal caller for the foreseeable future as he focuses on recovery.
A Big Loss for the Program
Sorsby's absence leaves Texas Tech in a difficult spot at the quarterback position. An indefinite leave means there's no set timeline for his return, and the coaching staff will need to figure out their offensive direction without him. College football rosters are built around continuity at QB, and losing your starter mid-season creates real problems downfield.

What matters most here is that Sorsby is getting help. Gambling addiction is serious, and taking immediate action shows the right priorities. The Red Raiders are supporting their player in doing what he needs to do, which is the only move that makes sense in this situation.
Texas Tech's next moves at quarterback will be closely watched across college football. For now, the focus stays on Sorsby's recovery and getting himself right.
