The Dodgers Are Still the Team to Beat, But Two Hungry Contenders Are Breathing Down Their Neck
A week into the season and the Power Rankings are already shifting. The Dodgers remain perched atop the rankings, but here's the thing: two teams made serious jumps into the top 5 in just seven days. That's the kind of movement that tells you the early race is heating up fast, and nobody's coronation is guaranteed.
LA Still Has the Crown, But It's Getting Crowded
The Dodgers are still your top dog in the Power Rankings after a strong week, but they're not running away from the pack. In baseball, especially this early, a hot stretch can launch a team from middle of the pack straight into contention. Two squads did exactly that, vaulting themselves into the top 5 and putting real pressure on the favorites. The Dodgers know better than anyone that early momentum means everything.

Back home in Seattle, the Mariners dropped a heartbreaker to the Angels, 8-7, in extra innings. Close games like that sting, especially when you're trying to build consistency in April. The team is 4-6 so far, and every win matters when you're trying to climb back into contention. Games at T-Mobile Park are coming up, and the Mariners will have a chance to reset against the Rangers on April 8th.
What's Next Matters Now
The schedule doesn't get easier, but it never does in baseball. The Dodgers face the Blue Jays on April 7th, the Rangers take on the Mariners the same day, and all across the league teams are fighting for separation in the early going. One week in and the Power Rankings are already moving. Come back next week and they could look completely different.
