Ivan Herrera's Bases-Clearing Double Sends Cardinals Past Brewers in Tight May Matchup

The St. Louis Cardinals walked out of the box on May 4th with a win in their pocket, and Ivan Herrera was the guy who put it there. His bases-clearing double was the difference maker, lifting the Cards past the Milwaukee Brewers in what looked like it could've gone either way.

Herrera Delivers in the Clutch

When you need someone to step up and clear the bases, you want your guy coming through in that moment. That's exactly what Herrera did. The bases-clearing double is the kind of at-bat that changes the entire complexion of a game, and for St. Louis, it was the decisive play they needed to walk away with the W.

Early May baseball is where you start to see which teams have the right pieces to make noise. The Cardinals showed they've got some pop in the lineup with Herrera proving he can deliver when the pressure's on. That's the kind of performance that sticks with you as the season rolls on.

Cardinals Keep Building

One win doesn't make a season, but it's exactly the kind of momentum a team needs heading into the grind of May and beyond. St. Louis got what they needed from their lineup and held off the Brewers when it mattered most. Herrera's big moment in this one is the kind of thing that could spark something bigger down the line.

The Brewers will regroup, but the Cardinals got this one, and that's what counts at the end of the day.
