The Knicks Just Set a Playoff Record That's Absolutely Insane, and the Hawks Never Had a Chance

The New York Knicks are heading to the conference semifinals, and they did it in a way that's going to be talked about for years. A 47-point halftime lead. That's not a typo. That's a playoff record, and the Hawks got absolutely demolished 140-89 in the process.

Let's just sit with that for a second. In a playoff game, in front of everyone watching, the Knicks built a lead so massive that the second half was basically a formality. This wasn't close. This wasn't competitive. This was a statement.

Anunoby Puts the Hawks Away Early

OG Anunoby led the way for New York with a game-high 29 points on an absolutely scorching 11-for-14 from the field. When you're shooting like that in the playoffs, the game gets over fast. Real fast. The Hawks had no answer for what the Knicks were throwing at them, and Anunoby made sure everyone knew it from the opening tip.

That kind of efficiency is rare in playoff basketball, especially when the stakes are this high. Anunoby wasn't just scoring. He was making it look easy.

A Record That Stands Alone

A 47-point halftime advantage in a playoff game had never happened before. Think about what that means. The Knicks came out and essentially won the game before halftime even ended. The Hawks were playing catch-up from the jump, and there was no way back into it.

This Knicks team is rolling into the semifinals with all the momentum in the world. New York's record-breaking first half carries them forward, and the rest of the East is watching.
