The Knicks Just Set the Most Brutal Playoff Record in NBA History and the Hawks Never Had a Chance

The New York Knicks didn't just beat the Atlanta Hawks in Game 6 of their first-round series Thursday night. They absolutely demolished them in the first half, setting an NBA playoff record that will be talked about for years: a 47-point halftime lead.

Let that sink in. Forty-seven points. In a playoff game.

Historic Offensive Dominance Meets Historic Hawks Collapse

The Hawks came out swinging, jumping to an 11-9 lead in the opening minutes. Then the Knicks flipped a switch. New York went on a devastating 18-minute run, outscoring Atlanta by 53 points and completely suffocating any hope the Hawks had of competing in this game. By halftime, the Knicks had built their 47-point cushion, holding Atlanta to just 36 points while the Knicks put up 83.

This wasn't even close. The Knicks shot over 60% from the field and 44% from 3-point range in the first half, executing at a level the Hawks simply could not match. The Hawks turned the ball over 14 times in the half, and the Knicks capitalized on every mistake.

OG Anunoby's Individual Performance Was Ridiculous

Knicks forward OG Anunoby was operating on another level entirely. At one point in the first half, Anunoby had outscored the entire Hawks team by himself. He finished the half with 26 points, and the Hawks were helpless to stop him.

This is the kind of performance that gets remembered. Not just because the Knicks won, but because the Hawks were never in this game. With the series now in New York's hands at 3-2, the Knicks are on the verge of advancing and the Hawks are looking at going home.
