The Mariners Draft A Switch Pitcher In The First Round

Jurrangelo Cijntje, remember this name. That’s the Seattle Mariners first round pick from the small island nation of Curacao right off the coast of Venezuela but attended Mississippi State University. But his name and country are maybe the least unique thing about this pitcher is he is a switch pitcher. He is able to throw with his right and left hand which is as unique as it gets. It’s going to be really fun to see him on the mound. Doing a small amount of research (google) he’s able to switch which arm he uses between batters but not in the middle of an at bat. It’s going to be really fun to watch and hopefully we do see him reach the big leagues as a first round pick in a few years.
