5. The Beast Quake

The Beast Quake sparked the city of Seattle and was one of the most iconic moments in the beginning of the Pete Carroll era that resulted in a Super Bowl win and a second appearance for the Seattle Seahawks. It cemented Marshawn Lynch as one of the legends of Seattle sports history.

4. Cal Raleigh Ends Drought

Cal Raleigh’s walk off home run didn’t save the Mariners from elimination, but, it did officially give the Mariners a spot in the postseason ending the longest drought in American sports at the time.

3. 1979 Sonics Are Champions

The Seattle Supersonics brought home Seattle’s second professional sports title in 1979. A little known fact is the Seattle Metropolitans won the first Stanley Cup as an American hockey club way back in the 1920s. But this was the first title since and the city and the Sonics love affair was deep and celebrating a title meant so much to the city.

2. The Seahawks Win The Super Bowl

The crown jewel of all American sports is hoisting a Lombardi trophy. And the Seahawks winning the Super Bowl finally gave that moment to a city that was starving for success and not winning a professional sports title since 1979.

The moment that probably saved baseball in Seattle. Edgar Martinez doubled home Ken Griffey Jr and the Mariners erased a 0-2 deficit to beat the Yankees and win their first ever playoff series and reach the ALCS. A moment that will forever be etched in Seattle sports history.
