It's a new era of Seattle Seahawks football, the Mike Macdoanld era. The Seahawks new 37 year old head coach is the youngest in the NFL, but one of the brightest defensive minds in the game.
Let's start with the fact that there is no need to overreact to preseason football, no overly negative or overly positive, but with Mike Macdonald there is clearly one thing that is evident:
The defense will be GREAT.
Mike Macdonald is known to be the Sean McVay of young coaches, but instead of being the offensive genius, he is the genius on the defensive side. He helped Jim Harbaugh turn around the Michigan Wolverines college program, making the defense go from a bad one statistically, to one of the best in the nation. Next, he went to Jim's brother, John Harbaugh in the NFL and started coaching the defense for the Baltimore Ravens. He helped make it one of the best in the NFL and elevated players career paths.
As stated before, preseason isn't usually the time for overreacting, but this Seahawks defense show a lot of promise already, against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Chargers struggled. They went three and out and gained only 21 yards on their first six offensive possessions with Easton Stick at quarterback.
Also, Seattle had the NFL's highest pressure rate in Week 1 of the preseason (56.3%) with three sacks and 18 total pressures. They did this by rushing four on 79% of their defensive snaps -- only the 49ers did so at a higher rate (91%).

All great signs for the Seahawks moving forward. Hopefully it continues. We will find out this weekend as well.
