The Seattle Mariners have now won 6 series in a row, moving to 16-12 on the year and sole possession of 1st place in the AL West. This team has been shocking everyone, but not just with the pitching staff this year, this year it has been the bats.
While the pitching staff is still great, they are already dealing with injuries from Logan Gilbert and George Kirby, their two best pitchers. The offense is keeping them alive this year, which is a surprise to many.
The Mariners offseason was filled with negativity by the fanbase (we are guilty of it too), because they did not make any significant moves for bats. Brining back Jorge Polanco, who was really bad last year, was one of their main moves, and somehow he is one of the hottest players in baseball.
Jorge Polanco first 20 games on 2025: .377/.405//.739 1.144 OPS 7 HR (took him until July 26th to hit 7 last season) 234 wRC+.
Jorge Polanco this week: 8-for-17, 4 HR, 8 RBI, while winning AL Player of the Week, the week after Dylan Moore got the honor.
Jorge Polanco, and Dylan Moore last week, are the first Mariners to win back-to-back AL Player of the Week Awards since Alex Rodriguez and Ken Griffey Jr. in 1998.
Mariners are currently 3RD in runs scored in the entire American League.
- Yankees - 155 (28 games)
- Red Sox - 148 (30 games)
- Mariners - 138 (28 games)
The Seattle Mariners offense ranks across the entire MLB:
- 1st in Walks
- 2nd in Home Runs
- 3rd in Stolen Bases
- 4th in On-Base %
- 5th in OPS
- 6th in RBIs
- 6th in SLG %
- 7th in Runs
The Mariners have the hottest offense in baseball the past 16 games, and on the season are 2nd in MLB with a 125 wRC+.
What an insane turn of events, no one saw this coming, at all.
