Giants and Cowboys Open 2026 on Sunday Night Football, Rest of Schedule Drops Thursday

The NFL just dropped the opening matchup for the 2026 season, and it is a classic. The New York Giants will face the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1 on Sunday Night Football, kicking off what should be a heated divisional battle right out of the gate.

This is the kind of primetime slot that gets the whole league's attention. Two NFC East rivals, fresh off the offseason, ready to set the tone for their seasons. The Giants have John Harbaugh at the helm now, so there is plenty of intrigue around how this Giants squad will perform in his first year running the show.

The Full Schedule Arrives Thursday Night

While the Week 1 matchup is already locked in, the rest of the Giants' 2026 schedule will be released Thursday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. ET. You'll be able to catch it on the Giants' website, app, and social media channels. That means fans will finally get to see the full slate of opponents and start mapping out what this season could look like.

Giants Busy Rebuilding in the Offseason

Behind the scenes, the Giants have been grinding through rookie minicamp and making moves to build out their roster. They've signed draft picks to rookie contracts and brought in undrafted free agents to compete. The front office, led by GM Joe Schoen, has been active in putting together a competitive roster for Harbaugh's debut season.

The Cowboys matchup in Week 1 on Sunday Night Football sets up nicely as a statement game. Both teams will be looking to make an early impression, and there is nothing like divisional football under the lights to get things started. Mark your calendars and get ready for what should be a competitive battle between two teams ready to prove something in 2026.
