Mariners Blast Astros 10-2, Seattle Stays in the Fight

The Mariners showed up ready to play on May 12, absolutely demolishing the Astros 10-2 in Houston. This was the kind of dominant performance that reminds you why baseball is beautiful: one team firing on all cylinders, the other team never standing a chance.

Looking at where Seattle sits after this win, the Mariners improved to 21-22 on the season. That record puts them right in the middle of the early season chase. The Astros, meanwhile, fell to 16-27 with this loss. That's a team struggling, and the Mariners made sure to capitalize.

Offense Takes Over

Ten runs is not a typo. The Mariners came to T-Mobile Park ready to put runs on the board and they did exactly that. In a league where games are often decided by a single swing or a late inning rally, this kind of cushion is as comfortable as it gets. The bats were hot, the approach was clean, and Houston had no answer for what Seattle was throwing at them.

This is the kind of win that matters in early May. It's not just about the two points in the standings, though those obviously count. It's about momentum. It's about knowing your lineup can explode on any given night. When you're playing meaningful baseball in May and you can put together a performance like this, you feel something shift in the dugout.

Looking Ahead

The Mariners have another crack at Houston on May 14 at 2:10 PM ET, and after a showing like this, Seattle comes in with serious confidence. These early season series matter more than people realize. Building winning habits now, establishing pitching depth, and figuring out what this roster can do when everything clicks, that is the foundation for everything that comes next.
